George A. Kohl, Senior Pastor
Pastor
Kohl came to Belmont Street as Senior Pastor in January 1995.
He is a graduate of Lancaster Bible College and Trinity Evangelical
Divinity School. He previously served churches in Cortland, N.Y.
and Central Islip (Long Island), New York. He and his wife, Martha,
parent five children - four boys and one girl. Pastor Kohl accepted
Christ when he was 16 years old and preached his first sermon
when he was 17. His deepest ministerial love is seeing non-Christians
discipled and changed into practicing followers of Jesus Christ.
Pastor Kohl enjoys spending time with his family, reading nonfiction
and traveling. Trips to the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Vietnam
were very special times in his life.
Norberto Soto, Associate Pastor
Pastor
Soto is a former New York City Corrections Officer and former
Licensed Social Worker in Worcester, MA. He is a graduate of the
Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL and served as an Associate
Pastor and Senior Pastor there. Bert also served as a volunteer
Commissioner on the Board of Human Rights in the city of Worcester,
MA.
In December 2002, Pastor Soto accepted the call to be the Associate
Pastor of Belmont Street Baptist Church. Bert oversees the Christian
Education Department, Youth Program, Pioneer Clubs, and the Committee
to Promote Local Evangelism. He assisted in the development of
three programs: the Seeds of Light Ministry, Alpha Ministry, and
English as a Second Language Ministry. Bert and his wife Lucy
have been married over 30 years. They have three adult children,
a son in-law, and two grandchildren.
